Wedding Candy Buffet

Did this candy buffet for Reed and Ken's wedding on 10.10.2010. Instead of favors on the table, guests are allowed to pick out whatever they want from the candy buffet table, fill them in mini bags and tie with purple ribbons.

The set-up

 Took a picture before getting changed for the ceremony...

 It took a few hours to dye the sugar with purple coloring. Need to rub the sugar and coloring with hands, wearing plastic gloves. It will not work with spatula or spoon as the dye will not be absorbed into the sugar. I wanted the flower bouquet effect and hence, stuck some flowers into the sugar pillar display.

 Layered the sugar with different shades of purple, and white...Stuck the chocolate lollipops in.....these were popular and went quickly!

On top of the white porcelain plates, I placed a purple shear cloth, and top it with a white paper dolly. This would give it a different look.

 
 Got changed and headed out to the ceremony area on the Terrace of The Hilton Hotel.

 Look of the Candy buffet with the lights dimmed. My camera is not able to capture the effect of the mini lights placed on the table. Instead of candles, I bought the electric candles and placed them around the purple garland, on the cupcake stand, and around the table to give it a slight glow.

Heart-shaped jelly beans. I like the heart-shaped end of the scoops.

The clear bags with silver tie, and ribbons for guest to tie around the bags.

The groom's dad shared:  Groom would record the song "you are my sunshine" on the piano several times before he sent it to her as a gift. Now, he really found his sunshine.

This picture was taken several weeks ago.......but it was one of the most exciting days for BHI (Behavioral Health Institute) - the day we got our licensing approved by the State inspector! Few of us got there at 7 AM to do a walk-through before she came. It reminded me of the 5 Ps...PPPPP ( Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance). We worked hard and did out part. Hence, when the inspection came, we breezed through it. :)

One of the doctors in the Psychology dept left us....and we did a mini farewell party for him.

It's crazy to say this but I really look forward to going to work! I am a firm believer of loving what you do.

Kids out there who have yet to find out your life's calling, I hope that you will have peace in your decisions and find something that you will want to do for the rest of your lives.

I am lucky to have found it early.

 It is the heart that matters the most. :)

Custome made ice cream! In this chocolate round, it containes a variety of nuts and toppings that was mixed in with vanilla ice cream on a frozen board.

Bryan and Miae's Wedding

At the request of the couple, we made this cake for them..

This decoration cake is made of yellow pound cake, strawberry cream, fresh strawberries, strawberry jam, covered with vanilla butter cream. 

Sheet cakes are for guests  - sponge cake, layered with fresh strawberries/ jam and freshly whipped cream. The two sheet cakes fed more than 100 people. 

The bride's favorite flower is pink roses.

 I have been to several weddings this year.... It almost seems like a wedding marathon! However, at each wedding, it never fails to remind me of how amazing God is. The unity of two people for life is a moment to celebrate. God provided Bryan someone so lovely from Korea.... and he said that God has a plan for each of us. In HIS time, he makes all things beautiful. We need to wait upon the Lord and trust in Him. He has that someone special for each of us. Through all the questions and doubts, He will reveal and work things out. I'm so happy for this couple and wish them the best as they start a new journey together!

BHI

BHI stands for Behavioral Health Institute

The is a new building that combines the Family Marriage Therapy, Psychology Department and Behavioral Medicine Center into one! All the outpatients at BMC will be moving across the street to the BHI.

These are some pictures of the grand opening ceremony.

Another thing I've been working on is planning for this project. We are providing meal service for the Outpatients like Eating Disorder (ED) and IOP ( Intensive Outpatient). Hence, food will be prepared at the BMC and transported in a van to the BHI. 

I am excited! :) We are expected to move in anytime soon.....

How to make Fresh Green Salsa?

Ingredients:

1- 2 pounds Tomatiloes

1 onion

Cilantro

Chili serano ( as many as you want)

Salt

5 cloves Garlic

Pepper

Boil the tomatiloes

Toast the chilies (green chili) on fire

Chop Cilantro, onions finely

In the blender, add tomatiloes, half of the onion, garlic, handful of cilantro, salt and pepper, and as many Chili sernaos as you want.

Placed blended mixture into a bowl, add chopped onions and chopped cilantro.

Taste and season accordingly.

Recipe for RED Salsa ( fast)

Blend cilantro, black pepper and Jalapeno with water

Add into Picanete salsa base

Add in chopped tomatoes and onions

To Serve: Fry Tortilla chips or store-bought chips. :)

For the colored rim on the glass:

Add red coloring to sugar...Dip glass in water, followed by the red sugar. :)
